GENNA (GEN North America)
GENNA stands for the North American Region of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN). We focus on meeting the needs of community projects within “Turtle Island,” the name given to North America in the creation stories of some indigenous peoples. The image of a turtle in our logo is meant to honor the rich cultural heritage and ecology of Turtle Island, as we work to grow community networks towards a more beautiful, just, and regenerative world.
The Community, Consensus, and Facilitation Book Project
Over his four decades as a consensus and facilitation trainer, mediator, and consultant to intentional communities and other cooperative groups, Laird Schaub wrote more than 130 articles in Communities, over 1200 blog entries, and a wealth of handouts and monographs about various aspects of cooperative group dynamics. However, he never had time to compile this material into book form. Early in 2024, with Laird’s blessing, a small team formed to start organizing and editing these writings, with the aim of turning his lifetime of teaching into a series of books of enduring value to communities and cooperators everywhere.
Given adequate funding, the team hopes to cover the following subjects as separate publications: Secular Consensus, Inclusive Facilitation, Navigating Conflict in Cooperative Groups, and Dynamics in Intentional Communities (key challenges and how to address them).
This project is being funded partly through a GoFundMe campaign linked at gen-us.net/ccf, through which contributions are not tax-deductible. If you’d like to make a tax-deductible donation instead, you can make it through GEN-US, the project’s nonprofit fiscal sponsor, by following the instructions on this donations page.
Thank you for considering this way of honoring Laird’s memory and helping his work continue!
